Because five is when everyone else is out with their dogs. So now the walk happens at ten at night, or down the quiet end of the street, or not at all.
Management is not training. Management is avoiding the problem, which is what all of that is. Training changes the outcome.
Whatever a puppy learns in the first few months is what you live with for the next decade. Start here and there is nothing to undo later, which is why this is the cheapest package on the list and the one that saves you the most.

Board and train is for the dogs where an hour a week is never going to get there, and for the serious cases. Your dog comes and lives with me for four weeks, and the training happens the way training actually works. Every day, several times a day, in real situations, with someone doing the repetitions properly instead of fitting them around a job.
The session packages put the repetitions on you, in between visits, around work and everything else. That works for plenty of dogs. For a serious case it is usually the thing that stalls the progress, and board and train takes it off you completely.
It also costs more than a commercial boarding facility, and that is on purpose. Three dogs is the maximum here at any one time. A big facility can have up to a hundred in at once, a different trainer depending on the day, and a kennel run to sit in between sessions.
Here they live in a house. The program is built around your dog instead of run off a standard timetable, and the same trainer works them every single day, so they build one relationship rather than learning to cope with five.
A dog who has spent four weeks in a home goes straight back into yours without having to relearn how to live in one. Not another number on a run sheet. One of three.
The program does not finish when you pull up in the driveway. The last two days are a handover, and they are for you rather than the dog. We go back through every problem you came in with, you see for yourself what has shifted, and then you get taught how to run it.
That part is not optional and it is the reason board and train holds. A trained dog handed back to an untrained owner slides back within a month. You leave knowing how to keep the four weeks going.
Two day handover included at the end. Food is included. Black Hawk kibble, or send your own and they stay on it. If you want a meal plan put together by a nutritionist that can be arranged at an extra cost.
Ask about a spotThe first session is spent watching your dog in the place it actually goes wrong, because that is the only place the real behaviour shows. By the end of it you know what is driving it, which package suits, and roughly how long it takes to shift.
Short daily reps you can fit around work, and we build them on play rather than food. Ten minutes twice a day beats an hour on a Sunday every single time. Between sessions you send me photos, video and updates, and I tell you what to change before a habit sets.
Then we take it outside and break it on purpose. Footpath, park, other dogs, the front door at dinner time. A dog that only listens in the lounge room has not learned anything yet.
I fought Muay Thai professionally. What that actually taught me was not how to be hard on anything. It taught me that results come from repetition, timing, and staying calm when the thing in front of you is not going your way. Which is most of dog training.
Snoopy was the family Staffy. She passed in October 2023. In January 2024 I got Ivar, a Husky crossed with a Border Collie, which anyone who knows either breed will tell you is an ambitious first dog to take on alone. Working him out properly is what turned this from a dog I loved into a job I do.
Ivar is not on his own any more. Joey and Torvi are Staffies, and Drax is a Doberman. Four dogs, four completely different sets of wiring, living in the one house and working every day. A Husky cross does not learn the way a Staffy does, and neither of them learn the way a Doberman does. That is the bit most people miss when they copy a method off the internet and wonder why it is not landing on their dog.
I am not going to tell you your dog is broken so I can sell you a package. If three sessions sorts it, you get three sessions and I will say so on day one.

Once a package is finished you can book one off sessions whenever you want a tune up. No new package, no minimum, just the session.
Every package includes follow up. Send photos, video and updates between sessions and you get told what to fix while it is still easy to fix.
Tools get discussed after I have met your dog, never before. Most of what fixes everyday problems is timing, clarity and knowing what actually motivates the dog in front of me. Plenty of dogs never need more than a flat collar and a long line. If I think something else is worth using I will explain exactly why, show you how it works, and you decide.
No, and that is the point. Kommand9 is play based, so the reward is usually a game with you rather than food. Dogs work harder for it, it holds up in the places where a treat stops mattering, and you are not spending thousands on training treats just to end up with a well behaved dog. Food has its place early on. It is not the plan.
It improves in most cases, often a lot. Whether they end up walking past other dogs without caring depends on the dog, how long it has been going on, and what you do in the days between sessions. You will get a straight read early rather than a sales pitch.
If you have the time to put in ten minutes of practice twice a day, the session packages work and they cost a lot less. If the case is severe, or you have tried before and it slipped, or life is genuinely too busy to be consistent, board and train gets it done because the repetitions stop depending on your week. I will tell you honestly which one your dog needs.

No. Puppies are easier because there is nothing to undo, but older dogs learn perfectly well. It just takes more repetitions to beat a habit that has had a few years of practice behind it.
